U14 Football League
St Catherine’s played their biggest game this season against Erith A. We were both undefeated in the league so this was such an important game.
Erith were quick on the break and managed to get through the defence to score two goals, leading 2-0 within 10 minutes of the game. A change of positions followed with Natalie Summers coming out of defence and moving upfront. Natalie had not felt confident in this position initially but after hitting the back of the net on two occasions before half time she realised that she was suited to her position. At half time the score was 2-2 and we started to feel more confident and fight to win the game.
Early in the second half a goal was scored by Rosie Norman and another by Natalie Summers to take us 4-2 into the lead. Erith then scored their third and the nerves were felt by all. Erith were still quick when attacking but thankfully didn’t manage to score. Another two goals were scored by Natalie Summers to give us a well deserved convincing win of 6-3.
I am so pleased with the team and the quality of football produced. Well done!
Team: Amelia Houghton-Boyle, Lauren Feeney, Maisie Joyce, Jasmin Okoye, Neve Hamilton, Natalie Summers, Rosie Norman, Phoebe Franklin, Lillie Fruvall.

U14 Football League
St Catherine’s played a league game on 17th January that was rearranged from before Christmas against Bexley Grammar. This was a big game for the girls as both ourselves and Bexley Grammar are undefeated in the league this season.
Unfortunately we only had 6 players and the league is 7 a-side, meaning that the girls had to work extremely hard. At half time the game was 0-0, therefore some changes were made. In the second half 2 goals were scored by Natalie Summers and some excellent play was displayed by Maisie Joyce in midfield. Amelia Houghton-Boyle also made some fantastic saves in goal to help keep us in the game.
The final result was 2-1 to St Catherines. The team did fantastically well and deserved the win. Next Tuesday we play Erith in the league. Again another big game as Erith is the other team as well as ourselves that are undefeated.

Get Set School of the Month
This Thursday as part of our winning prize we had the Olympic London 2012 mascot visiting our school. Wenlock visited our school; he took part in our PE lessons and year 7 and 8 assemblies. He came into 8 lessons and then helped with our lunchtime cycling club. All the classes did an indoor athletics event, taking part in Olympic events. Wenlock even took part and managed to throw the javelin 11.50 metres, the shot putt 10.50 metres, and he jumped 1.00 metre in the long jump and 3.40 metres in the triple jump. He then went into year 7 and 8 assemblies led by our Olympic Committee, explaining how and why we had won the Get Set School of the Month. It was an incredibly fun day, with Wenlock being a very good attentive pupil and giving out lots of cuddles and autographs.
