Areas Studied Key Stage 3
Creative Curriculum is an amalgamation of English, Geography and History. Content from these subjects is written in to the Creative Curriculum’s programmes of study for the academic year and done so with the guidance of experienced subject leaders and vibrant, forward thinking teachers. The course is divided into modules and students enjoy a range of topics that enable them to learn in a range of ways. Students learn all the content that they normally would do in these subjects, but they also develop essential skills that our young people of today need to take on to be become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.

News and Events:
In 2010, two Year 7 Creative Curriculum groups had the rare opportunity to work with professional media sound technicians as part of a nationwide programme for schools. The sound technicians gave the two groups an introduction into the world of sound and music and how it is used in a range of media products. After this, they were taught the necessary skills for using a sound editing software tool called Audacity. Their task was to create a ‘soundscape’, an audio guide of sorts, for the different departments and areas of St Catherine’s School.
In March 2011, a second cohort of students embarked upon the same project. The results were just as strong, even without the aid of the professionals-it just goes to show what we are capable of in this school community!
Look out for the availability of the very first school audio guides in September. We hope to provide visitors to the school with this fantastic and entirely unique opportunity. |
