Areas Studied Key Stage 3
Year 7: Students follow the KS3 Strategy in Year 7. They cover the main components of File Management, Word, Presentation, Desktop Publishing, Spreadsheets, Databases and Sequencing.
Year 8: Students continue the KS3 Strategy in Year 8. They cover the advanced features of PowerPoint, Publisher, Spreadsheet modelling, Data Handling, Moviemaker and Website design.
Year 9: Students start the French Trip project for their GCSE. They act as project manager enabling a group of fellow students to visit Paris. They carry out research, maintain costing information on a spreadsheet, create a database of students and advertise the trip using letters, a flyer and a presentation.
Areas Studied Key Stage 4
Year 10: Students complete their project on the French Trip. They then create a film about an aspect of school life e.g. extra curriculum opportunities and clubs or else a virtual tour of the school for new year 6 students.
Students choosing the ICT Option study graphics and create a multi page Website.
Year 11: Students write up the tasks they completed on Work Experience. Finally they complete a module demonstrating how they can use Audacity to create sound on the WWW. Option students create a Multi-Media presentation together with the design and creation of an animation for the WWW.
Most students will receive the Double Award for ICT (equivalent to 2 GCSEs). Option students should achieve the Full Certificate (equivalent to 4 GCSEs). |
