GCSE music encompasses all aspects of music study. It is extremely creative, requiring students to compose music, perform music and listen accurately to works both old and recent.

At St. Catherine’s, we place emphasis on using technology as a tool at GCSE level. You will use computers and recording equipment creatively in both composition and performance.

Students are expected to take a full role in school events, supporting the music department during concerts and extra-curricular activities.
Areas of study are;
Area of Study 1 Western classical music: 1600-1899
Area of Study 2 Music in the 20th century
Area of Study 3 Music in the 20th century
Area of Study 4 World music.
