It is an amalgamation of English, Geography and History. Content from these subjects is written in to the Creative Curriculum’s programmes of study for the academic year and done so with the guidance of experienced subject leaders and vibrant, forward thinking teachers.
Overview
What is the Creative Curriculum?
At St Catherine’s we offer our Year 7 students a dynamic way of learning life skills and qualities for learning that link directly to the new National Curriculum aims of creating successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.
Creative display work

Since its inception in September 2008, our Year 7 students have enjoyed 2 sessions a week (each one a very valuable triple lesson) of creative learning that is built around essential content from 3 traditional secondary school subjects. At the heart of the subject is the Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS), designed for the new National Curriculum that will enable young learners to become self-managers, creative thinkers, reflective learners, problem-solvers, team workers, independent learners, effective communicators and ready for their future steps in life. These skills are embedded throughout the students’ time at the school, but Year 7 is the opportunity for them to enjoy a dedicated Creative Curriculum.

Group work is encouraged

The course is divided into modules and students enjoy a range of topics that enable them to learn in a range of ways. Students learn all the content that they normally would do in these subjects, but they also develop essential skills that our young people of today need to take on to be become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.
