Rounders ~ The Year 7, 8 and 9 rounders team took a trip to Bexley Grammar School on Thursday. All three teams worked hard and showed good team spirit. The Year 7 team put on a brilliant display once again, only having 8 players for the fixture, they still went on to win by a brilliant 18 ½ to 5 ½ rounders. Well done to Shannon Saunders for player of the match. The Year 8 team played well together, they fought hard but unfortunatly lost out by 3 rounders, well done to Amy Greening 8H for player of the match. The Year 9 team worked hard, and put in 100% effort, but a strong Bexley side played well and they were beaten by 8 rounders.

PLEASE NOTE: Would all students please bring ROLL ON deodorants into school for use before / after PE and NOT AEROSOL. It causes others to cough and can aggravate hayfever and asthma. Thank you.

Kent Schools Athletic Championships
On Saturday 12th June, many pupils from the secondary schools in Bex-ley took part in the Kent Schools Athletic Event. They were selected to represent Kent after excellent per-formance in the Bexley Schools Championships.
Doyin Aderinto in year 10 was our representative, taking part in the intermediate girls 100 metres. She performed very well in the heat, coming fourth with a time of 13.81 seconds, which took her through to the final, in which she came fifth, again with a time of 13.81 seconds. Excellent running, well done Doyin, I look forward to similar performances in 2012 I hope!
Oakwood Tennis Club ~ We have been very lucky this week to have had several tennis lessons coached by two professionals from our local club, Oakwood. Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 Rounder's Teams
All 4 years played a fixture against Townley Grammar School on Thursday with the Year 9 and 10 teams going
away and the 7‟s and 8‟s playing at home.
All the girls played brilliantly especially the Year 7 team who won by 2 rounder's and the Year 9 team (who played
Townley‟s Year 10‟s) and also beat them. Unfortunately the Year 8 team lost 15 to 12 ½, but showed some real
positives by actually scoring more rounder‟s on paper.
All 4 teams then played Bexleyheath and Trinity on Tuesday, the Year 7‟s, 9‟s and 10‟s won both their games, with
them Year 7‟s beating Bexleyheath 17 rounder‟s to 4!The Year 8 team came close during both games, missing out
by 1 and a half rounder‟s each time!
Year 7 team:
7C: Jordan Sullivan, Shannon Walker, Harley Wooler and Katie Arundal.
7T: Phoebe Franklin (player of the match)
7N: Elizabeth Farinto, Ella West, Lily Fruvall and Mary Okunsanwo
Well Done Girls!!
Miss Moore

Dance ~ On Thursday 6th May, girls from Year 7 & Year 9 took part in the Step into Dance Borough Event held at Townley Grammar. The students have been working with a dance teacher through the Jack Petchey Step into Dance project, which involves young people learning new dance skills and then perform-ing in events all across London.
Our girls performed wonderfully (see picture below), and are very hopeful that they will be going on to show their work at the London event, on July 11th at Sadlers Wells.
P.E Kit Expectations ~ We are quite disappointed with the amount of students who are bringing incorrect P.E kit, or leav-ing their own kit at home for their P.E lessons. This results in detentions being issued which is a shame that so many students are currently spending their time in this way.
We would like to also remind you that a note is required if a student is to be excused from a lesson and that full correct P.E kit is still to be brought in for the lesson. Students should still be getting changed and taking on the role of an umpire, score-keeper etc.
Year 7, 8 & 9 – navy blue or black shorts, yellow polo shirt, white socks and trainers. A skirt is also required for tennis lessons.
Year 10 & 11 – navy blue or black shorts or trousers, yellow polo shirt, socks and trainers.
White socks are a part of our P.E kit, this is to ensure that students are changing their socks for P.E for hy-giene reasons. We appreciate your support in helping us to maintain the high standards that we have and expect at St Catherines.

Year 10 Rounders Tournament ~ On 18th May, the Year 10 rounders team went to Chis and Sid for the Borough tournament. The following girls represented the Year 10s at the Bexley rounders tournament on Tuesday evening:
Year 9: Evie Uttley Evie Bainbridge Grace Franklin Chloe Hobbs Victoria Stapley Eilish Whitaker Rachel Wade
Year 10: Aoife Fehilly Caitlin Coleman Helen Wickenden Clarissa Folkes
They won all their matches except one which meant they tied on points with both Townley and Chis and Sid for 1st place. The amount of rounders scored were then counted and we finished in 2nd place, losing to Townley by ½ a rounder. Considering two thirds of the squad were Year 9s this was a fantastic result. Well done everyone.
Ms. Uttley-Wright
