PGL Isle of Wight October 2010
Please be aware that a minimum of £100 for the trip must be paid by Friday 23rd July. Failure to do so may jeopardise your daughter’s place on the trip. On September 14th at 6pm, we will be holding a Parent Information evening to fully prepare you and your daughter for the PGL experience. All parents/carers are required to attend this meeting as important information will be given and collected on the night. We will remind you again nearer the date. Post 16 Option Interviews
The next Connexions interviews for Year 10 students to assist them with their Post-16 options will be next
Tuesday 22nd June during lessons 1, 2 and 3 only. There will be no interviews on Tuesday 29th June or Tuesday 6th
July. There will be interviews on Friday 9th July names to be published in Contact on Friday 2nd July.
The week before the interview students will be informed via their tutor of their interview time and all names
will be published in Contact (as below).

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award 2010 for Year 10
After a successful expedition last year we are running the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme again this year. Places are limited to 16 and are open to students in Year 10.
Letters will be coming out shortly giving full details about this fantastic opportunity.
The award requires completion of 4 sections: service, recreation, skills and an expedition. The expedition is a 2 day walk (carrying all your equipment) and overnight camp in tents.
To prepare for the expedition there are weekly sessions held after school on a Wednesday which include: cooking, map skills, pitching tents and first aid.
As places are limited please return the Permission form and a cheque for £37 to cover costs to Mr Lenihan as soon as possible.

I would like to advise Parents/Carers that Independent Catering Ltd is an individual trading company.
I have been informed by the manager that, to date, there is more than £70 owed to them by students.
The current ‘lending’ arrangement can no longer be sustained. From now on ONLY a sandwich can be purchased by any student who is in a position where they have no lunch or money.
This will of course need to be paid back the following day.
Please appreciate that this is a business like any other.

required to sit the two Controlled Assessments planned for the summer term of Year 10.
