Congratulations to Yr11 for their brilliant exam results this
summer. All your after-school classes and hard work clearly paid off in the end. We achieved a significant percentage of A-A* results and are thrilled with the position that many girls now find themselves in. That is not to say that there will be any room for resting on your laurels this year, we have it all to do again and then some.
In Year 10 the girls applied for the Junior leadership team and prefect positions, they participated in public speaking training, Olympic activity day, University trips, continued support of the fair trade club, organized and performed in the talent charity competition, catering competitions and the young enterprise program to name just a few of the extra-curricular activities that the girls managed to excel in, in addition to their academic success. Our mission statement speaks of a vibrant community- our Year group delivers this vibrancy year after year, especially in respect to their charity work which they supported last year without any persuasion.
In addition to their academic success, the Year 10 girls:
- applied for the Junior leadership team and prefect positions
- participated in public speaking training
- Took part in on Olympic activity day
- Went on University trips
- Continued to support the fair trade club
- Organized and performed in the talent charity competition
- Ran catering competitions and the young enterprise program
Our mission statement speaks of a vibrant community- our Year group delivers this vibrancy year after year, especially in respect to their charity work which they supported last year without any persuasion.
We hope everyone enjoyed themselves and learnt as much as possible on recent work experience placements. Placements this year ranged from the House of commons to Police Forensics to The This Morning studios. The girls worked tirelessly on gaining these placements and there were some girls, I know, who deserve special credit for being persistent and eventually achieving a placement in their dream job.
This year we look forward to a (hopefully) sunny Thursday afternoon in August for the final results and some serious celebrations, until then girls we’ll see you in class for some serious learning and progress.

Study Support Advice
This is a very important year for the Year 11 students, as they embark upon their final year at St Catherine’s. Students will be preparing for their exams and making important decisions about where they will continue their education or training next year. It is therefore extremely important that we support and encourage them to remain organized and focus.
• Monitor your daughter's bedtime. As they grow older your daughter's will tell you that they should be allowed to stay up later but they still need a lot of sleep. Students who are tired find it difficult to concentrate and remain focused.
• Agree a regular time for your daughter to do her Home Learning so that she has a routine. Ensure that she has a space to do this, whether that is in bedroom or at the kitchen or dining room table. Talk to your daughter about her work and ask her questions to show that you are interested.
• Put a copy of her Home Learning timetable on the fridge so that you know what she should be expecting. Check her planner regularly to ensure that Home Learning has been written down.
• Ensure you know the deadlines for any outstanding Controlled Assessment or Coursework and display them at home.
• Encourage your daughter to begin her revision early for both her mock examinations and the real exams. Help her to plan a revision timetable which includes both breaks and real rest from the work.
• Talk to your daughter about school and her learning!
