Provider Access Statement

Introduction

This statement sets out the arrangements for managing the access of providers to students of St Catherine’s Catholic School, for the purposes of giving them information about the provider’s education or training offer. This complies with the school’s legal obligations under Section 42B of the Education Act 1997.

Opportunities for access

Our careers provision offers various opportunities for students to access a range of events. These are embedded into our careers programme and curriculum as well as hosting one off events that provide such opportunities. The integrated events are usually delivered internally, with the contribution of external providers where necessary.

All students are entitled to find out about technical education qualifications and apprenticeship opportunities. This can be done through option events, assemblies, group sessions and ECM days. Students are prepared and equipped to understand how to make applications for the full range of academic and technical courses.

The school employs a Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) Coordinator to provide advice to across Key Stage 3 and 4. In addition, we provide impartial and independent careers advice and guidance by engaging with Prospects.

Procedure

In the first instance, we encourage providers who are interested in coming into the school to contact Miss Gill, Assistant Headteacher, to ensure this is an appropriate activity. This is then forwarded on to the school’s CEIAG coordinator who organises the event or opportunity if it is appropriate.

St Catherine’s Catholic School has a procedure in place with regards to safeguarding and visitors. At all times we ensure that our students are always completely safe whilst meeting or speaking to external providers. Visitors are always with a member of staff when leading sessions involving students or interacting with them. External trips are always approved by the local authority in line with the provider having an LoTC badge or EV4 form completed.

Education and training providers will be expected to adhere to our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy. If you do hold a copy, please bring your DBS document to Reception when you arrive.

Resources

Once visits have been agreed, the school will provide appropriate resources to facilitate the visit, along with any equipment requested by the provider, where it is available. Sessions can be delivered in different venues according to the number of students and the requirements of the provider.

We are happy to work with providers to provide any other resources we can that make their visit possible and we are happy to accommodate those that need to bring extra equipment into the school in order to showcase what they do.

Providers are welcome to leave copies of their prospectuses or other relevant course literature with the CEIAG Coordinator or Reception. The school will place the literature in the Careers Office and in the careers area of the Library.
