Subjects
Pupils benefit from a well-thought-out curriculum. This includes a carefully considered range of qualifications offered in Years 10 and 11. Teachers’ strong subject knowledge and the very calm atmosphere in classrooms mean that pupils are able to learn well. This in turn leads to strong outcomes for pupils - Ofsted Report June 2022
Our approach to the curriculum
- BALANCED: to promote the intellectual, moral, spiritual aesthetic, creative emotional and physical development of the young person.
- RIGOROUS: disciplinary habits of mind – disciplinary specific, powerful ways of thinking that are developed through sustained engagement with the discipline, e.g. 'Think Hard'.
- COHERENT: designed to promote the development of capabilities across subjects
- VERTICALLY INTEGRATED: material taught in one year builds on what was learned in previous years, and how this relates to the skills, knowledge and understanding required for GCSEs.
- APPROPRIATE: we aim to provide challenge for students with consideration for their well-being.
- RELEVANT: we aim to take into account the interest, needs and wishes of students, but within a framework of informed choice in respect of pedagogy, curriculum, IAG guidance and local, regional and national employment trends.
