Jack Petchey Achievement Awards 2018
Thursday 5th July
On Thursday 5th July, the Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards for 2018 were held at the Orchard Theatre Dartford. I was delighted to attend this event as it is a celebration of all the students in Bexley who have achieved amazing things this year. We had 8 students from St Catherine’s who had won a Jack Petchey Award for a number of reasons including being a mental health ambassador, for overcoming adversity, for helping other students and above all for being outstanding young people who have worked so hard to achieve great things. These students were Bethany (10Ad1), Louise (10An1), Aimee (8An1), Lily (11Ad2), Freedom (10Fr2), Kemi (9Fr1), Nanama (8Ad2) and Daniella (7Fr2). Miss Shepherd, Head of Year 8 was presented with the Leader Award, as someone who has encouraged and motivated young people in an exceptional way. Miss Shepherd was given this award because of her amazing work regarding a mentoring programme which has had such a positive impact on our students and their behaviour. She always goes the extra mile and everyone at St Catherine’s would like to say thank you and well done to her for everything that she does. It was such a fantastic and uplifting evening, and I was so very proud of the amazing staff and students that we have here at our school. Thank you also to Miss Almeder who is our Jack Petchey Coordinator and puts so much time and effort into organising these awards.
