World Book Day - Year 7!

Thursday 7th March 2019

World Book Day for Year Seven

St Catherine’s School will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 7th March 2019 with staff and Year 7 students dressing as characters from well-known books. Curriculum support will be given during English lessons.

We have decided to give you very advanced warning so that girls can read their chosen book and prepare their   costume. The Year 7 themes are;

Alice in Wonderland – Lewis Carroll, Peter Pan – J. M. Barrie,

Harry Potter – J.K. Rowling, The Chronicles of Narnia – C. S. Lewis,

Classic Fairy Tales – Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, The Arabian Nights,

Any story by Roald Dahl, William Shakespeare or Charles Dickens

This is a wide selection of novels and themes to choose from and we hope every Year 7 student will be able to  enjoy reading their chosen book and using their imagination and initiative to prepare their costume. Please note that this is not a mufti-day and as such students have the option of a clearly identifiable character costume or they may wear their usual school uniform.

We hope that you agree that this supports the culture that already exists in St. Catherine’s that as well as being enjoyable, reading is both important and life enhancing.
