Message from the Headteacher
After what has been a rather turbulent year for all schools across the country, we welcome all students, parents, staff and other members of our community back to a new academic year at St Catherine’s. Our school is truly a special place and it is our privilege and pleasure to have been given the opportunity to lead the school for the year ahead.
In the face of adversity and challenging times, we know our faith has kept us strong and helped to us to remain focussed and determined throughout this unsettling period. The impact of the global pandemic, both at home and internationally has been immense. So much of what we have all taken for granted, has been affected. We know that our students have had to adapt quickly to online learning and have missed the interaction with their peers and teachers during this time. Many will feel uncertain about their futures, how their academic careers will progress and the obstacles that lie ahead. Be assured that all of us at St Catherine’s understand the anxiety that many of our students, and you as parents, may feel and are here to support. In the words of our Holy Father, Pope Francis: "In the midst of isolation when we are suffering from a lack of tenderness and chances to meet up, and we experience the loss of so many things, let us once again listen to the proclamation that saves us: he is risen and is living by our side."
We have much to be grateful for. Our students performed exceptionally well in their GCSEs once again this year and this is testimony of their hard work and dedication alongside the commitment of staff to ensure every student is known individually and reaches her full potential within the context of a caring, Christian community. We have quickly come to see that the well-being of every student is at the heart of our work of St Catherine’s and is fundamental to our success. Excellence underpins everything we strive for and spiritual and moral development lies at the heart of our vibrant faith community.
For those of you who are new to our school and are looking for an excellent education for your child, you will find St Catherine’s a place where effort and achievement are celebrated, within our long-standing tradition of academic excellence.
We are an innovative school, grounded in tradition yet forward facing, with a clear vision of what we want to achieve. With a unique, proud history, St Catherine’s offers its students a chance to discover their own place in an exciting, ever changing modern world. More than ever, our students need a global perspective and be proactive decision-making women, finding solutions to our world’s problems. We invite you to find out more about our school.
Whilst visits are on hold at the moment, during this period, we welcome you to get in touch for an informal discussion. We hope you will see that through living our gospel values, we celebrate and empower the women of the future.
